South Africa delighted to finally break Nigerian jinx

Midfielder Dean Furman has said Bafana Bafana are delighted to have finally beaten Nigeria in an official game after 24 years.
“We are delighted to finally break the jinx,” said the experienced Furman.
“We were constantly reminded we have not beaten Nigeria (in a competitive game) and now we have done it.”

The SuperSport United ace credited South Africa’s second-half display for their famous victory 2-0 on Saturday in an AFCON 2019 qualifier.
“Our approach in the second half, where we played to our strengths, as well as the fact that the weather became cooler made it possible for us to win,” he said. However, he warned the win has not qualified them yet to AFCON 2019. It’s a long qualification campaign, so we have to continue to do the business,” he maintained. We have a team of players from the PSL who are doing well and the likes of Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates have also done well in the CAF Champions League.
“Added to that we also have some players who are also doing well in Europe. It’s a good mix.”
